Award winning photography
I’m really pleased that this image recently won an award in the Fujifilm envisage awards for professional photographers. It’s from my recent work as a photographer – Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire. I took some photos in the family’s back garden and then we walked over to this field of long grass opposite the house. I love the long grasses in this, the delicate colours, and the slightly edgy feel. Their mother said “The photos are just beautiful. They are in the living room and the hall. Everyone comments on them. Thankyou so, so much”.
For this version of the photo I’ve added a painting-like appearance to the image, so that it’s not just a straightforward photo. The effect is most obvious in the background. It looks great printed on canvas. What do you think?
The other image in the field of buttercups is from a different session but has a similar oil painting effect. It’s supposed to look a little like an impressionist painting. Do you love it or loathe it?

Great site, clean and effective, I especially like the sliding header.
Love the photograph of the two little girls, the way that you have caught the light on the girls is excellent and added just enough oil effect to make it all work.
I can see how it won an award. Congratulations.
The same applies to the girl in the meadow. The yellow flowers seem to glow around the girl in complete contrast to her, leaving her somehow elevated. Great picture.
Nice site, lovely pictures.
Keep up the good work.
Regards John.
Thanks for the comments John. I’m glad you liked the style of the images.

Great info, thanks for useful article. I’m waiting for more
Great work, the effects look good and I think the shots would stand up with out it as well
Thanks for the comments Ryan!
I love following your blog posts and seeing all the amazing work you do! For me as an amateur photographer, I wouldn’t mind getting some pointers or seeing some of the tips and tricks you use in your work. I’m always looking to improve my photography, and judging by your work, I’d say you have loads of skill and experience that others will find useful!
