Warwickshire Photographer wins international award
Well, I’m chuffed! A photo of mine described by judges as “representing black and white photography at its finest” has won a major international photography award. I beat over 8000 entries from 72 countries to win an Honorable Mention in the prestigious Black and White Spider Awards 2012.
The awards judges included illuminaries of the photography industry from the Tate Gallery in London, National Geographic Magazine, and fine art galleries in Paris, Barcelona, Florence and Sydney, amongst others.
It’s an honor to be included in these awards. The image is part of a personal project of mine. It suggests a prisoner in a cell reaching for freedom, like a flower reaching for the light. Having said that, it was taken at my home in Studley. Makes me proud to be a Warwickshire photographer!
